Best course to transition from Software engineer to AI engineer: DataCamp's Associate AI Engineer for Developers Track - https://datacamp.pxf.io/gRrE22 Get 25% Off DataCamp - https://datacamp.pxf.io/4aLNbr If you're already a software engineer, you're probably about 80% of the way to becoming an AI engineer — and you don't even know it. A friend of mine works as an AI engineer at a major startup making $200–300K a year. When I asked what his day actually looks like, he said it's 20% AI and 80% regular software engineering. The scary AI part is the small part. The stuff you already do every day is the hard part. Want to make real money with coding? the 20% AI / 80% regular engineering split is the part most people miss. everyone fixates on learning the model side but the hard part of shipping AI products is still the same stuff it always was — data pipelines, error handling, monitoring, deployment. the actual delta for most SWEs is smaller than the hype suggests, its mostly about learning how to evaluate model output systematically rather than just vibes-checking it

I am frontend developer having 10+ years of experience got laid off due to LLMs, Please help me /suggest what skills/ road map I can plan to be safe for next few couple of years. I have plans to learn python - become fullstack and then AI Engineer. What is your suggestion? Not sure where to learn/ where to start :-(

Can you compare AI engineer with FDE (forward deployed engineer) which is en emerging role?

Really enjoyed this video, I had a lot of misconceptions. I graduated last week and wanted to find out more how I can find out about startups and get into one? I'd really appreciate your guidance

I have done that datacamp course and it has helped fill in some gaps for me. But one thing i am really struggling with is that every company seems to want everything built using the api calls, ie openai api or anthropic. Using langchain/lang graph is drawn on as a negative (i honestly don't know why though). I was actually told my approach didn't have enough code and seemed too easy, dispite it working. But this is then contradicted by the later stages of the course and this video saying its these frameworks that enable advanced systems designs. Whats going on here?
