Description

“We can be flawed and still be deserving of achieving great things.” Melissa Arnot Reid, the first American woman to summit and descend Mount Everest without supplemental oxygen, talks to Michael Kosta about her new memoir, "Enough: Climbing Toward a True Self on Mount Everest.” She opens up about using high-level climbing as a sometimes unhealthy coping mechanism and why her journey to inner peace is a “forever climb.” She also discusses Juniper Fund, the non-profit she co-founded to support high-altitude workers in Nepal. #DailyShow #MelissaArnotReid #MountEverest Subscribe to The Daily Show: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCwWhs_6x42TyRM4Wstoq8HA/?sub_confirmation=1 Follow The Daily Show: Twitter: https://twitter.com/TheDailyShow Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thedailyshow Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/thedailyshow Stream full episodes of The Daily Show on Paramount+: http://www.paramountplus.com/thedailyshow Follow Comedy Central: Twitter: https://twitter.com/ComedyCentral Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/ComedyCentral Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/comedycentral About The Daily Show: Jon Stewart and The Best F**king News Team host The Daily Show, an Emmy and Peabody Award-winning program analyzing the biggest stories in news, politics, and culture through a sharp, satirical lens. As a Nepali person I wish ppl who summit the highest mountain would also be curious about how or why is Everest called that? Say her name! Sagarmatha! This is one gift you could give Nepal in return.

I love this conversation. I was an addict years ago and I found myself in county jail for failing a probation drug test. When I was admitted to the jail “infirmary” upon in processing because of my addictions, I found myself in a room with about twenty beds that I had to stay in for a week. There was no entertainment there, but, 6 books for the nearly twenty men. One of these books (and I can’t remember the name of it) was about summoning Everest, I remember the descriptions of dead bodies, everything. Getting past my addiction was my Mount Everest.
