I really love this style of covering a trial! Sometimes I don’t want day in day out coverage, just want the highlights but also be able to see actual testimony so this is perf

My uncle was murdered by a man who has schizophrenia. He was put into a long term mental health hospital (in England - Rampton) it’s quite a well known place. They said he was unfit to stand trial. Whilst I know he was very unwell, part of me still feels angry. It’s a hard feeling to describe. I can see both sides.

You can hear him grunting like a wild animal while he's attacking her. Just by hearing that, the violence becomes palpable. If someone watching can feel that fear, I can't even begin to imagine how terrified the judge was.

Have taken 2 days to watch this. I can’t believe this happened in January. I was watching it that day. Wild case. Thank you for covering this.

I love this quick trial coverage format! We get the whole trial and commentary and one solid go without disrupting the rest of the law nerd docket. I enjoy longer gavel to gavel coverage from time to time as well, but I really love this format and hope we get more like this!

I sat on a jury for almost a week and the defendant was on the stand and had an outburst and the judge called for a break and we went to the jury room. We were there for a long time wondering what was happening... and when we were finally called back in, we were told that the defendant had taken a plea deal and that we were no longer needed. I had taken copious notes throughout the trial and it was an interesting case. It was disappointing to go that long and not see it to the end and moreso, I wanted to know what the others jurors thought... even with the outburst, I was still leaning not guilty for the defendant... So the judge said that we could finish up in the jury room, gather our things and come back out to the court room (if we wanted to) and talk to the attorneys, answer their questions, ask them questions, give them our thoughts... all but one person (she had to leave) stayed and did so and it was a really good experience. I learned that there were mixed feelings about his guilt or innocence with most leaning not guilty and we also learned that this defendant had two other arrests he was waiting trial for... I still felt that for the charges for this arrest (assault), he was not guilty (self defense). It would've been interesting to have gone through the jury instructions and deliberations... But it was really a good experience... all of the jurors got along so well, we filled our long breaks laughing and joking and playing games and getting to know one another. I wouldn't mind doing it again.

This case breaks my heart. Utterly and completely. It breaks for the victim(s). It breaks for the defendant. There is so much pain in the world, and to see it so clearly illustrated here how much we humans can hurt each other... All I can do is cry.
