Reacting to CFP Rankings, Lane Kiffin's Move, and Penn State's Coaching Search

Decipher the arbitrary nature of the initial 12-team College Football Playoff cut and evaluate the ripple effects of high-profile coaching changes. Discover why defining clear scheduling criteria matters more than subjective committee feelings.

Short Summary

  • Texas and Miami were excluded from the initial playoff picture despite possessing significant quality wins.
  • Notre Dame benefited by avoiding a single, truly catastrophic "bad loss" on their resume.
  • The system remains frustrating because the selection committee fails to rank criteria like head-to-head versus strength of schedule.
  • Lane Kiffin's departure underscores the inherent risk in partnering with highly successful but volatile coaches.

Colin Cowherd and Joel Klatt dissect the selection committee's baffling inclusions and exclusions following conference championship games. They argue that subjectivity must give way to defined paths, such as prioritizing head-to-head results and quality wins, to institute structural improvements for the sport.

Miami beef shouldn't be with ND. Their beef should be with their idiotic conference who doesn't have the best team in the conference title game.

So if BYU loses TT they should drop behind Miami but if Alabama loses to Georgia this Saturday they should stay at #9? Okay got it.. lol.

9:11 I would love to see Texas vs ND in a “Play In” game! Great idea for a play in game

I don't understand why people are ignoring the fact that Texas had to win 2 games in OT against bad teams. They looked BAD against UGA. They looked BAD against FL. Tney beat an OU team with a one-handed QB that hadn't taken a snap in 3 weeks going into that game. They almost let Vandy rally. They beat A&M! Ok who has A&M beaten that makes you think they're actually any good?

Joel’s delivery at 14:40 was impeccable. The long stare down after had me cracking up 😂 Reminded me of the great Norm Macdonald
