ICE Detains Emmy Award-winning Immigrant Journalist

Mario Guevara, an immigration journalist with legal status in the U.S. Guevara, who fled El Salvador in 2004 and has lived in the U.S. legally for over 20 years with work authorization and a pending green card application, was arrested while filming a protest and handed over to ICE. All charges were subsequently dropped. Jimmy and Americans’ Comedian Kurt Metzger criticize the arrest as politically motivated retaliation for Guevara’s reporting, and they highlight the contradiction of deporting a legal immigrant journalist while allowing undocumented laborers to remain for economic purposes.
