Every time I learn more about how money actually works, I realize how little they teach us about it in school.
I am astonished at the seemingly infinite supply of money that grifters, scammers, and conmen are able to steal or willingly be given by people in this country.
Money is infinite, resources are not
America has infinite money, but finite purchasing power.
Should have MMT people like L Randall Wray, Bill Mitchell, or Steve Grumbine on to explain it. They’re all on the left and good on it, Steve’s podcast Macro & Cheese is great.
There is a new MMT documentary called "Finding the Money" that people should watch.
The deficit does NOT matter but what we do with the deficit DOES matter
We don’t have infinite money. But we seem to be able to pull out as much money as we need for war. So how about we stopped doing that and start printing the muddy for say Medicare for all, college for all, daycare for all, etc. etc.
There are plenty of MMT commentators who would likely be happy to come on and explain how the monetary system works. I am currently doing my Masters in Modern Monetary Systems and have lots of contacts in the MMT community if you want to reach out for suggestions.
Yeah, Trump's Iran debacle is absolutely an "excursion." I'd say that the most apt historical comparison is "Gilligan's Island," where they were promised a 3 hour tour, only to wind up stranded far from home for a few years.
