As a 35 year old Steeler fan I am kind of bummed. He was my WHOLE adult life. Now I know how my dad felt when Cowher left. Sad.
I’m going to be honest here. He’s family in Pittsburgh.
Steeler fan since 88’, here. This is how it goes, we are blessed for it. When Bill Cowher was stepping down, it crushed us, it was like a funeral. Cowher went 8-8 and there was unrest. This is almost exactly how tomlins departure went, minus a recent superbowl. Cowher was my childhood, my beginning.. Tomlin was my hope and Pittsburgh resilience. Give Tomlin his respect just like you would Cowher. Period. So grateful
I had just turned 5 when Mike was hired. I turn 24 on Sunday. Its hard to even imagine there will be another man on the sidelines next fall.
Man that's deep and tough. The Steelers organization has always been about tradition, love and respect. I've been a Steelers fan since early 80s. Respect to Coach Tomlin for his time as a Steeler!
This has to be one of the cleanest coaching exit of all time. It's incredible to see. Seing how Pittsburg responded to this has made me respect the hell Coach Tomlin. The respect they had for the coach is literally contagious.
How many teams have had 3 HoF coaches in a row? Black and Gold 4ever!!
When Mike Tomlin became the head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers, I was in 2nd grade. I'm now 27, married, expecting my first child.
I doubt we will ever see a coach last 19 years again, unless he wins about 5 super bowls in a 10 year span
It's like losing your best friend of 19 yrs
