I believe that you can be successful without being selfish. It depends on how you measure success.

I agree with a lot of what you're saying in regards to success in specific lanes such as profession or income. I'm just an E7 in the military so I make decent money and I've done a lot of cool things. I say that, not looking for shine but because that's just my job and there's no way of getting around saying it. I'm not successful because I now make middle class money or because I enjoy my profession that I excel in. That's not how I view success. I feel I'm successful because I found an amazing wife and have two children that are healthy and that I can provide for them. I'm successful because I choose to work hard and instill positive values in my children. That's success to me. That doesn't need the selfishness or the arrogance that you speak of. However, I'm with you 100% in regards to the money and professional side you speak of and can honestly relate to everything you're saying. I have chosen to go to units that deploy, and be away from my family because those jobs are springboards to promotions and I enjoy being underway on a mission. That is selfish but like you said, it comes with positive results. Anyways, I love show as always. I know that was random and all over the place. I'm a 43 y/o dad of a 5 mo and 23 mo old kids with another coming down the pipe. I'm getting emotional and nostalgic in my old age. That's what's fun about listening to your podcast. Life changes when you have kids and get old. Much love 🤙🏼

You gotta be pissed off at success to succeed.

I saw a lot of successful people laid up in hospital beds struggling to breathe. We all end up in the same place eventually.
