Screw IBM they've been doing this shit for years...worked there for a few years as an engineer. Treated employees horribly, tons of red tape, stuck in the past...greed and hubris destroyed this company. Best day ever when I left.
That is why when you call for technical support you get INDIA with fake English names.
Every IBM commercial I have seen in the last 15 years has been scam AI stuff in which AI can't do yet what they are pretending it can.
The same thing happened to Blue Collar America. We packed up our Equipment & sent it all overseas. Did White Collars think they were immune? This why we need DJT. America for Americans. Same for our Jobs!
As a former IBM insider - I was part of IBM Technology Infrastructure Group and worked on making the Z17. After an entire year at IBM I sadly realized it (IBM) is a sham. At that point I and a few others sold all our shares then left the 'organization'.

Annual enterprise software (e.g. SAP) license costs is extremely expensive and in the big financial services customers IT budgets it dwarfs the cost of the IBM hardware. As long as that hardware keeps running reliably (and it does), and the cost of converting the customers' proprietary core software to a different (presumably x86) platform is high, it makes perfect sense for these customers to keep buying IBM mainframes and keeping their core software on that architecture. This has been the case for at least 2 decades.
IBM missed out on the desktop business, personal software, phone, internet, a.i. and data centers. SMH
They shed 2 months of gain. IBM should not move that much. The real puzzle is the run up.
