"1,000 days left" Anthropic founder

At college I used punch cards, and room-sized mainframes were the CPUs of the time. I said as I was leaving college "I just hope that I have a briefcase computer in my lifetime." That happened about 3 years later. My first software job involved 8-bit micros running complete advanced operating systems in 1k byte of EPROM, with the factory automation app in another 3k bytes. Now look where we are today : gigagbytes of RAM, terabytes of disk, GHz of CPU, the Web etc. So can any of us imagine where AI will be when a new graduate of today reaches the middle of his/her career? We are at the punch card stage of AI so the later stages will be amazing and/or terrifying.

2029. Ray Kurzweil predicted this exact timeline 30 years ago!

It's so nice of the tech billionaires to plan for how AGI can provide a subsistence income for the plebs while they hoard the collective knowledge of all humanity behind their walled gardens. I'll remember to say a prayer for them before I eat my daily nutrient bar in my state-issued habitation pod.
