we just arrived at the "WTF" moment in AI

I tried doing this a few weeks ago actually wth one of those random unsolved problems, and chatgpt basically just said "we'll need to invent new math to do that, and it may take 12 years" . i was like ok nevermind LMAO

Paul Erdos fun fact: he was terrible at caring for himself so he stayed on other people’s couches and in their spare bedrooms while working on papers either them - basically paid for room and board with his ability to pump out massive amounts of work with other mathematicians

As a mathematician myself I am excited to hear this. I am also very pleased to see Terry Tao embracing AI. As well as being one of the greatest mathematicians of our times, he is a great communicator who is always open to new ideas. Many other mathematicians sneer at AI capabilities. I think we are still lacking a robust form of reinforcement learning for maths AI, yet this is already happening. It is reminiscent of the way AI was beating chess grandmasters before they realised that neural nets playing against themselves could take the game to a whole new level.

What is socially and practically most usefull is a.i. detecting fraud, corruption and scams. That would be nice.

Screw it. Move the goalposts. Goals are just another motivation to proceed faster.
