the answer to most "what would we do" questions is "nothing". people will not appreciate the risks until there is a big disaster and then they will freak out and overreact. that's what usually happens. i think it's amusing that humans often do objectively terrible things and yet we think we can develop a morally impeccable AI.

One day: AI labs announing "surprising jump in ability". The other day: AI gets nerfed and dumber over time.

Just an FYI in all cars and suv built in 2026 and going forward there are 6 microphones installed in each new vehicle.

So basically, this new ultra powerful model was contaminated and thus may lead us toward the nightmare scenarios we've all been worried about, which can include the end of the human species and the end of the world. But anthropic, supposedly the most ethical aI company, is not going to trash this contaminated model, because it was expensive, and so will proceed forward, even though it may lead to the end of the world. I feel better already.

The funniest thing is that all these papers are published on the Internet, so they had better be damn sure of what they're training on.
