I saved a bumblebee yesterday. It had spent the night, and most of the day in the garage. I scooped it up carefully, and asked if it was still alive. It didn't seem to, so I walked to the composter. As I walked, and it probably felt the air movements it started vibrating its wings while folded in order to get warm. It just so happens that next to the composter there's a plant that is all flowers. I carefully deposited it onto a blossom - it went all sideways and upside down, that's how wobbly it was. But with a bit of patience it latched on and righted itself, and without a thought or acknowledgement pushed their face deep into the first blossom. OMNOMNOMNOM And so it went from flower heart to flower heart. So cute.
Dear bumblebees: thank you for your work and contribution to life. Thank you too for making us aware of the wonders of nature.
And there you go: a bumblebee has more intelligence than your average member of congress.
Thanks, Anton, with all the terrible things going on in this world it was so nice to learn about the beautiful bumblebee!
Bumblebees on flowers in your garden = happiness.
When I was a child, I had a bumblebee friend one summer. Sometimes when I would go out to one spot on our driveway and hold out my hand and this bumblebee would land on my hand and then just walk around on me for a little while, then fly off. It was very sweet and gave me a special affection for the species 🐝 Thank you for the excellent video
