I Spent $10,000 Learning How To Talk (Here's What Actually Worked)
Engineer Your Speaking Confidence: A System for Technical Professionals
Transform intimidating speaking moments into predictable success by installing communication as a hard technical skill. Unlock rapid performance gains using four engineered techniques that bypass relying on vague charisma or feeling confident.
Short Summary
- Eliminate "cold start" anxiety by scripting and rehearsing only your critical opening sentence.
- Use precise physical actions (breathing, stance) to regulate presence, proving your brain follows your body.
- Accelerate improvement by objectively reviewing performance using the mandatory Three Pass Review process.
Steve Wyn, ex-Amazon Principal Engineer, deconstructs verbal communication into a solvable system based on his experience switching from corporate writing to on-camera presenting. This system focuses only on methods that move the needle, discarding common fluff.

I watched some of your older videos and I can see such a massive improvement in your delivery and I'd say it's one of the best I've watched on the platform. I'm very thankful I had an amazing English teacher in college that really 'destroyed' the "like" and "umms" out of our vocabulary and I appreciate him still to this day for that.
Can relate to every single thing!!!😂
Please make videos like this on communication , These are very helpful
Love it! as an ex-Amazonian myself, I deeply connected with the writing isn’t the same as speaking context you set. Having suffered from chronic stage fright, I really appreciate your thoughtful straight-up above in this video. Thank you 😃
A few extra things on communication for people like me who like hard numbers on body language: - Eye contact during a conversation: 50–70% is optimal when listening; balance with warmth and blinking naturally (don't stare lol). - What to talk about: Focus on shared stories, values, light vulnerability, and playfulness. - Being weird: If you’re showing curiosity + calm energy, you’re fine. Weird is *contextual*. These alone can get you 90% of the way you need to go to be a great communicator.
This is what I lack. Thank you!
Been around since the early days. The production quality has really become top notch now
