In your story, you immediately felt bad and apologized. This thirteen year old didn’t feel bad and didn’t want to apologize, but still expected hand outs from the person they insulted. “Just because she apologized” in a way that showed no remorse. People won’t learn there’s consequences to your actions if you don’t give them consequences

A thirteen year old telling me they can't go to a summer camp because they have to "wash their hair" would be so difficult for me to not laugh at while I reprimand them

I think the OP has a chance in court. If they have texts or emails that state something like “I will pay for your plane ticket so you can attend my wedding” it could be viewed as some sort of contract. The friend did not holdup her end when she skipped the wedding and therefore would be in breach of that contract.

For the first story, I was 100% about to say that OP was the butthole, but now that I know that the friend just used her to free vacation wow

Story 1: There is an update. OP talked to her friend and tried to talk things out. Friend didn't seem all that apologetic and lowkey doubled down. OP gave her an ultimatum about small claims court and so far hasn't gotten her money back yet.

13 is the perfect age to educate on sincerity and consequences for being insincere. Otherwise sister will have an eternal teen adult that never grew up like most karens you see nowadays. Very nta on story 2.

For the last story: OP literally said he was right next to a trash can due to already having puked and has puked in it since being given it. And he STILL puked on the floor. Hard to say it wasn’t purposeful when he had a gag warning and a trash can next to him

Story 2… my guy, she isn’t going to the gulag, she’s just not getting a summer wardrobe bought for her. I believe she will survive and maybe even learn something

RSlash: When I say something stupid, I’m reminded in the comments! Well imma doing it again. How’d you just give a child who *_insulted_* someone, a 1.5/5 asshole rating, but give the couple who stole like $2,500 from OP in the first story, 1/5 asshole rating? What??¿¿? How does that make sense? 😆😂

the niece learned that people dont want to hang out with you when you're cruel to them. thats not a punishment- it's a natural consequence.
