Description

In this Huberman Lab Essentials episode, my guest is Dr. Andy Galpin, PhD, Executive Director of the Human Performance Center at Parker University and an expert in building strength and muscle size (hypertrophy). We cover the core principles and protocols for building strength and muscle, including science-based guidance on reps, sets, frequency and rest intervals. We also discuss how breathing and mental focus can enhance training and how post-workout downregulation can speed recovery. Thank you for always helping me increase my confidence in my work. You always help me to silence the critic in my head and remind me that I am doing the best work. Even when uneducated voices try to tell me differently. Really needed this podcast today man- grateful for you as always

That section on Mental Awareness in training at $24$:$08$ is so underrated. 🧠 High-performance isn't just physical; it’s a mental state. In my coaching practice for professionals in the diaspora, I find that whether you’re building a multi-million dollar business or a 1-rep max, if the mind isn’t present, the results won't follow. Learning to bridge that mind-body gap is the first step to moving from "Comfortable" to "Extraordinary." Thanks for highlighting the cognitive side of hypertrophy, Andrew and Dr. Galpin! 🚀

This has to be a record for the most actionable and relevant information per minute, and it's probably not even close. Crazy good stuff - even by essentials standards.

Yin Yoga is a pratice that calms the mind and stretches your limbs. Its an excellent practice to do after a tough workout, whether strength or Cardio
