His widow is a REAL one. I hope they both find peace and enjoy the rest of their lives on the city of Austin's dime. They deserve it.
One of the most important things I repeat to my kids is to always remember that the cops can and will lie. Ask for a lawyer and say nothing. Not likely to ever be an issue, but I'm sure Maurice's parents thought the same thing.
The payout needs to come from the pensions of all the corrupt DA and police involved in the case.
The whole police culture needs to change before all support for the "thin blue line" is lost.
Powerful interview about a terrible tragedy in your lives. You are two very strong women. So sorry for your loss.
The Las Cruces, NM Bowling Alley murders should also be shed some light, considering no arrests have ever been made.
Those poor boys and their families. Stories like this show how unfair our judicial system can be. I'm happy they received the money but to call it compensation? There's never any true compensation for those who suffer at the hands of misjustice. That lovely young woman listening to her father's last words. I'm sorry for the little girl who was, and see a strong lady now. And the young mother losing her life mate. Plus the families of the others and their lives being changed forever. Shame on Austin. Shame.
Sad case. Poor Maurice hounded all those years.

Erin Moriarty - I have seen you report on so many stories and crimes throughout the years. Reporters that interview victims (from any side) should look to you as a role model. You are kind, considerate, thoughtful in your questions and responses, you show compassion, professionalism, and respect. In this interview in particular, I truly felt and heard your compassion. You paused to give them time to think, you held space when needed, and you were so sincere when asking them how they felt. Thank you for sharing these stories. Your platform allows victims to be heard--that means a lot ❤
