Hi Candace, my husband and I were on our honeymoon when we found out about Charlie. We had both been feeling like something was going to happen and randomly the night before his assassination we watched one of his debates. We were heartbroken when we found out what happened and we really felt like the veil lifted and scales fell from our eyes and we haven’t been able to unsee the world now. As a Bosnian woman who lived through war (it started when I was 10) I remember us kids secretly watching young girls (anywhere from 14 and up) have sex with NATO soldiers through the fence standing up (American the most) in exchange for FOOD. Like how freaking evil do you have to be to take advantage of people in their weakest point in life? That really stuck with me, and I’ve had trust issues with men until I met my husband 15 years ago.
