FORGOT HOW MUCH WE LOVED THIS MOVIE!! Join us for our Road to Doomsday Watch Alongs! Iron Man Commentary, Full length Watch Along & Early Access: https://www.patreon.com/thereelrejects Gift Someone (Or Yourself) An RR Tee! https://shorturl.at/hekk2 Greg Alba & Coy Jandreau revisit the film that launched the Marvel Cinematic Universe, bringing you their Iron Man (2008) reaction, recap, commentary, breakdown, analysis, and full movie spoiler review!! Greg Alba & Coy Jandreau react to and break down Iron Man, directed by Jon Favreau (The Mandalorian, Elf) and starring Robert Downey Jr. (Sherlock Holmes, Oppenheimer) as Tony Stark, alongside Gwyneth Paltrow (Se7en, Shakespeare in Love) as Pepper Potts, Jeff Bridges (The Big Lebowski, True Grit) as Obadiah Stane, and Terrence Howard (Hustle & Flow, Crash) as Rhodey. The film follows billionaire genius Tony Stark, whose life changes forever after being captured by terrorists and forced to confront the consequences of his own weapons. As highlighted throughout the reaction, the movie stands out for its strong character work, sharp writing, and Robert Downey Jr.’s instantly iconic performance that redefined superhero casting . From the intense opening ambush to the emotional cave sequences with Yinsen, the film carefully builds Tony’s transformation from arrogant weapons manufacturer to reluctant hero. The reaction repeatedly calls out how effective the practical effects, grounded tone, and step-by-step suit-building process still feel today. Key moments include Tony’s first Iron Man suit escape, the evolution into the Mark II and Mark III armor, and the final battle against Obadiah Stane’s Iron Monger. The film ultimately delivers one of the most iconic endings in superhero history with the unforgettable line: “I am Iron Man.” More than just a superhero origin story, Iron Man set the foundation for the MCU and changed blockbuster filmmaking—something that feels even more impactful when revisiting it today. - X-MEN: DARK PHOENIX (2019) REACTION: https://youtu.be/aHnvsoEaX88 - X-MEN: APOCALYPSE (2016) REACTION: https://youtu.be/oQE93-rQ3Jg - X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE (2009) Reaction Commentary: https://youtu.be/Zfk2qa-a-vI - X-MEN: THE LAST STAND (2006) Reaction Commentary: https://youtu.be/3ZhImFDcVrs - X2: X-MEN UNITED (2003) Reaction Commentary: https://youtu.be/qXVcwzDpvWA - X-MEN (2000) Movie Reaction Commentary: https://youtu.be/NcGK6ZlPYRM Follow *Greg Alba* https://www.instagram.com/thegregalba/ https://twitter.com/thegregalba Follow *Coy Jandreau* https://www.youtube.com/@CoyJandreau https://www.tiktok.com/@coyjandreau?lang=en https://www.instagram.com/coyjandreau/?hl=en https://twitter.com/CoyJandreau 0:00 - Checking In! 2:44 - Iron Man Reaction 1:13:17 - Iron Man Commentary Intense Suspense by Audionautix is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license. https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ RR Clips & Shorts Channel: https://www.youtube.com/@ReelRejectsClips Follow TheReelRejects On The Socials: IG: https://www.instagram.com/reelrejects/ TT: https://www.tiktok.com/@thereelrejects?lang=en TWITTER: https://twitter.com/thereelrejects FB: https://www.facebook.com/TheReelRejects/ Music Used In Ad: Hat the Jazz by Twin Musicom is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license. https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ Happy Alley by Kevin MacLeod is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license. https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ Supervising Producer: https://twitter.com/nerdchronic?lang=en Co-Editor: Greg Alba Co-Editor: John Humphrey Music In Video: Airport Lounge - Disco Ultralounge by Kevin MacLeod is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license. https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ Follow & Listen to Us Wherever You Get Your Podcasts!! - Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/3XHMwbveiznxSOGxN9XT0M - Google Podcasts: https://podcasts.google.com/feed/aHR0cHM6Ly9mZWVkcy5tZWdhcGhvbmUuZm0vc3Rhci13YXJzLXRhbGs - Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-reel-rejects-tv-movie-recaps/id1616339990 - Audible: https://www.audible.com/pd/The-Apocalypse-Podcast/B08JJP58FG PLAYLISTS: Trailer Reactions & Reviews: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL-bIhJVeYWw9ZsLdoAQFpx38s2hhyFgDe Movie Reviews: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL-bIhJVeYWw-comtadVs8b9JsZEWHUyr8 Movie Talk (News, Spoiler Reviews, & Film Rumors!!!): https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL-bIhJVeYWw8fPQ-21NVSb2IOwIiHbVt8 Youtube Video Reactions & Discussions: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL-bIhJVeYWw_qwcPsN_vOxXC6IVzrOQYG Sketches & Short Films: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL-bIhJVeYWw_zWuTRfBOUP3aYyIYRzc2y

So when Stan Lee created Ironman back in the 60's. he did it because he knew a lot of his readers were anti-war protestors and he thought "I'm gonna make someone they absolutely would hate, an uber-rich arms manufacturer, and I'm gonna make them like him."

Yensen is mentionned again in Iron Man 3, and I think his legacy is more subtle because he basically defines all of Tony's morals later with the "Don't waste it". Tony explains it later to Peper : it's like he got a second life thanks to Yensen and he's dedicated to make this one count, to honor his memory, even if it means sacrificing himself like Yensen did. He honors him by not "wasting it" like he asked. Also : In this movie, Golmira is Yensen's village so Tony is even madder about it all !

In endgame, after Tony Snaps his fingers, in the same way Thanos met young Gamora in the soul world. I wish Tony would go into the soul world met Yinsen as it was his original sacrifice which gave us Iron Man. 'Did you waste your life?' 'No'

Oh yes, the one that started it all, and still one of my all-time favorites. Robert Downey Jr. was absolutely perfect for this role.

25:05 The cheeseburger was RDJ Reflecting on the time he was on the road to sobriety. He enjoyed burgers from BK. It was because the drugs made the burger taste bad(something which he previously enjoyed) that made him realize how far he'd fallen. He tossed his drugs into the ocean sober up, and began turning his life around. He acquired his taste buds back. *“Cheeseburger First!!!”*

I always interpreted Stark never bringing up Yinsen as his guilt of Yinsen reminding him of the man he used to be. But he definitely should have been brought up more for sure
