Joe Manchin was promised by Democratic leadership that the West Virginia Senator’s pet bill granting accelerated permitting to pipeline projects – as well as renewable energy projects – would be passed by the end of the year. But Congressional progressives made no such promise, and they could use their power as a bloc to attempt to derail Manchin’s bill. But will they? The fact that all they’ve mustered so far is a strongly-worded letter to Nancy Pelosi suggests that their backbones are no stiffer than during the days of Force the Vote.
