Taxi Driver (1976) Made Me Feel Sick... and I Think That Was the Point

I watched Taxi Driver (1976) for the first time, and I went in pretty wary of this one. This was the winner of the Oscar nominations poll, and I knew right away it probably was not going to be a feel-good movie. I had Taxi Driver and Scarface weirdly mixed together in my head, and I only recently realized this was Robert De Niro and not Al Pacino, so that is where I was starting from. I will be honest: I do not think I liked the feeling this movie gave me. I know Robert De Niro was incredible, and I believed him completely as Travis Bickle. But the whole thing made me feel lonely, uncomfortable, hopeless, and a little sick. I think it worked exactly how it was supposed to. I just did not like being in that feeling.
