Geopolitical Tug-of-War Undermines Global Semiconductor Corporate Control

Analyze how geopolitical conflict directly fractures global corporate structures, costing Europe its supply chain stability. Understand the shift in real corporate power amidst international tension when manufacturing autonomy is prioritized over headquarters control.

Short Summary

  • Globalization is actively collapsing, revealing critical vulnerabilities in multinational corporate structures.
  • Following nationalization attempts, Nexperia’s Chinese unit explicitly told staff to ignore instructions from the Dutch HQ.
  • Western powers risk losing control by focusing policy efforts solely on capturing headquarters staff rather than physical production assets.
  • This dispute directly threatens European automobile production due to suspended chip exports from China.

This discussion centers on the fallout when the Netherlands attempted to nationalize Nexperia, a Chinese-owned Dutch-headquartered chipmaker, citing national security. The speaker dissects the resulting, predictable conflict where China retaliated by halting exports, exposing the political class's failure to grasp where real operational value resides in a globalized supply chain.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe what the Netherlands did wasn't even nationalization, but literal theft. They didn't buy the company (at market price), they just decided it was no longer under the control of the owner. I find it fucking hilarious that the Chinese part of the company is just saying F off to the european HQ. 🤣 Go CHINA GO ! (I'm European and learning chinese)

Worst part is China bought the former Dutch company which was failing losing money, then turned into a profitable biz. Now the Dutch just seized it and kicked the owner out. What a shame 👎👎👎👎👎

1. China bought the company when it was bankrupt, now it's profitable under new management 2. at least Dutch government should buy the company, not just take it over

So the Chinese bought the Dutch company back in 2018/19, funded its expansion, researches and consolidation with its global manufacturing successfully to the scale where it is today. When there is no sign of interruption to supply and the company is growing healthily, how on earth the stupid Dutch government using a piece of 50 years’ old law to steal the company? The Dutch is giving very good reasons why western countries can’t be trusted, and why China wants to sanction these countries on REE.

Once a looter always a looter. The western colonizer gang are on the move again.... Be careful Asia, Africa, and all the non western world..! Don't be a fool to think this is just about China, no it's not, they will come for you next. Read the history of brutal western colonization and you'll get to know who these guys are, how they build their modern civilization from looting, robbing and enslaving the world... History doesn't lie and it tends to repeat itself if not careful..!!

A Chinese company spent about 3.3 billion euros buying 100% shares of Nexperia when Nexperia was faced with bankruptcy. After the Chinese company made Nexperia profitable, some Dutch employees conspired with the Dutch gov for a robbery, claiming they were the owners. Ridiculous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There is an old Chinese saying: "The bird that sticks its head out gets shot." The Netherlands is exactly this kind of bird.
