China Reverse Engineered ASML EUV Machine - USA Failing to Stop Chinese

Well gunpowder is China's idea, so yeah you all must stop using all iteration of ideas that comes from gunpowder. No gun, rocket, car, missile. Oh yeah paper also China's idea, as well as saw. So yeah you all should go back to stone age. What an odd way of thinking isn't it?

despite hiring many ASML engineer, this machine is not reverse engineered. they use a completely different light source which was abandoned by ASML as a development path. so basically they dug an abandoned solution from the grave and make it work. all these information was out there for close to a year now with scientific paper documenting it. US need more people who are STEM that can read Chinese who ain't Chinese so they can understand what Chinese are doing. China is actually a very open book if you know how to navigate it academic infrastructure to find all the documentation, being the inventor of papers and so paperwork, China love to document things.

Is worst than that. Reuters lie, China is not reverse engineering anything. China is developing EUV LDP which is a tech that they have been developing since 2016 with their own patents. While ASML use EUV LPP that has a lot of patents and is not possible just "copy" it because require a lot of components all patented by ASML and USA. That also means that Ex-Engineers (or even current one) from ASML CANNOT help China at all to develop LDP EUV because they have not experience AT ALL with that technology. The Reuters want to implant the idea that China is reverse engineering to justify future sanctions and make the people to believe that China cannot make anything by their own. Any time a news media says "anonymous source", that means is made up by themselves.

Naturally when America was the new kid on the block it stole every idea it could. Not satisfied with the ideas it then stole the raw materials. STILL not enough? Lure other nations best and brightest to come here. BINGO things really take off. Until today..

As a software developer I constantly have to think of solutions to problems that others haven't solved. It doesn't mean I own those ideas or solutions. I just spent time solving them. If someone else invents the same solution it doesn't mean they stole it. It foolish to believe that your the only person or team or company that can solve a problem and anyone does the same thing stole it from you. Photolithography started all the way back in the vary earliest of days. Do you think people say ASML stole the idea from early image copying techniques from the 1850. The idea of using light to produce smaller copies of thing has been around for a vary long time. It's taken precision engineering in the fields of optics and vacuum pumps and laser power amplification and precision timing. These various technologies accumulate to make these technologies possible. No one underestimates the complexity of this technology but as engineering creates better techniques the technology becomes possible. Optics used to be hand polished and measured with micrometres. Now the are produced by precision machined and measured with lasers. The engineering isn't new it's just an accumulation of ideas from decades. Any single person, company or nation who thinks they own an idea. They are fools.

China achieved EUV in early 2025. They've had a year to improve it. What's being reported is based on early 2025. The Copium from the West is hilarious from everybody including the ASML CEO to ANALysts. It went from it will take the Chinese never to a decade or longer to now to 2030 or beyond. It will be faster than that. The early 2025 prototype used LPP like ASML to get something working. The goal is LDP and X-ray lithography. X-ray lithography is the game changer. Through China's advanced material science in meta-materials they plan on shrinking the particle accelerator used for X-rays from room sized to box sized to even smaller. The will also allow the Chinese military to build particle accelerator weapons for the Navy and eventually to aircraft.

By saying China relies on reverse engineering ASML machines, Reuters is trying to emphasize that the Chinese can only copy ASML and can't design their own EUV machines.

Apparently the so-called "reverse engineering" has been debunked/clarified by this explication in another report: The Chinese EUV is LDP EUV which is completely different from the ASML one which is an LPP ASML machine. LPP cannot be replicated because of its patents in many areas. China have been working on LDP technology since 2016 and has a lot of patents associated to this tech. Hence, Reuters lied when citing "anonymous sources" to implant an idea in the minds of people that "China cannot do it by itself, is doing something illegal and with help with ASML engineers in the shadows" This makes no sense at all, because no ASML engineer can help the Chinese develop LDP EUV because it is completely different from LPP EUV.
