I actually loved Vine when it was around. Never viewed it as toxic. It was just…fun. You had cringe on there, sure, but you never felt addicted to it and felt like you were being forced into it. If it means destroying tiktok then hell yeah. Tiktok should actually be shut down and banned and be viewed as a national security threat.

Vine could easily beat TikTok. In the same way YouTube finally decided to monetize shorts. Provide a way for creators to make money. Nobody will care if you get 1/10 the views if you can actually make money. Vine died because everyone left, just do that again. A Livestreaming periscope feature to compete with twitch. It's all connected with Twitter. A complete platform that integrates short form, Livestreaming, and tweets? That's a winner.

Another kiss of death is older audiences start using TikTok and the younger crowd, goes "ewww" and move to something like Vine.

In theory this is a good idea. We'll have to find out in practice later.

I think getting the monetization right would be key. Tiktok makes a ton of money but only pays out something like 1% to creators. Also, if there was a comparable app to TikTok like Vine it would be much easier to ban TikTok without the complete uproar. A big problem Vine would face is the copyrighted music that is used on TikTok. Right now TikTok just ignores copyrights but a US based company might now be able to get away with it

Man I miss vine. Had some good times on that. Why’d they get rid of it?
