In the beginning Edward says "I'm not finished". He was going to have hands, the scissors were just a placeholder until the hands were ready.
This film is Tim Burton’s triumph. The dissection of what is “perfect” society, only to reveal that the true darkness exists within the bubble gum, pastel colored suburbia, not the outwardly “dark” hill on the outside. So much of Burton’s upbringing in Burbank influenced this film. My wife walked down the aisle to “Ice Dance” by Elfman, and this may be my favorite film score of all time. It is peak Elfman for peak Burton, and it never fails to bring me to tears.
RIP, Vincent Price, 1911-1993. This was the legendary horror movie legend's last roles on the big screen.
This is possibly the best reimagining of Frankenstein's monster ever. Just a beautiful and magical movie 👏🏻
Jon waving those scissors around put me on edge
There's a great Gary Oldman interview where someone asked him about a role that got away. He mentioned reading this script and thinking, "I don't get it." Then later, watching the film, when it gets to the suburbs at the beginning, he says to himself, "I get it now." The score of this movie, Danny Elfman's best! My Christmas playlists always have the finale.
The scene where Winona Ryder is dancing in the snow is just so beautiful. As much as I love his other films, I truly believe this is Tim Burton’s masterpiece. Even seeing it in theaters as a young kid I was moved by this movie so much. I must have rented it from Blockbuster a few dozen times. I still get choked up by the ending.
Tim Burton was in my class in high school. He based the neighborhood in Edward Scissorhands on 1960’s Burbank, California, where we grew up.
58:54 "Hold me" "I can't" This moment will never not get me. 😢
