"Gartner Hype Cycle" dictates that we are at the top of the "Hype Phase"... next comes the CRASH, then comes "Realized Value" of A.I.
As a kid in the 1970's my COOP savings book got 1% per month added every month. You could actually see the hand calculation totals when you brought the book into the office. I saved, from fair checks and odd jobs, enough to give me spending money for my first year of college; i.e. 18-year-old legal drinking in those days. That was followed by interest rates of 18% to 24% on car and real estate loans in the 1980's.
Disagree with you on cash in the 1970's... Because you could open a CD at any bank and get at least 12% interest. I remember it, I lived it!
The bots in here are insane

thank you random guy on youtube
1970s, I recall gas lines, wage price controls, paper shortage, no beef for months on end, and the rise of disco.
In the 70's the US was a oil importer and heavily dependent on foreign oil. Today we are a net exporter. Nixon also tried to implement price controls, which was a disaster.

The kind of mentality that allows you to select for profit over consequences is exactly why private equity is buying public utilities.
