One HUGE difference between the stock market of the early 70's and now, is the ability, for literally anyone with internet access, to invest, especially passively. The constant influx of capital from retail investors is helping prevent a market downturn.

Lower inflation does not mean prices come down, it means prices go up slower. You need deflation for any hopes of prices coming down, and even then that is highly unlikely to happen.
