Nvidia is scared TPU adoption will drive developers to write code for a complete different operating system other than CUDA. The minute this happens, those 70% margins Nvidia thought they could chokehold the industry with will fall harder than the stock.
The real winners in this AI boom are the lawyers
All I see is TSMC being the one getting benefit from this and an actual bottle neck in this whole race
ASICS (TPU), will do what ASICS (hash computing units) did to GPUs 10 years ago. Basically GPUs are good starting point for new ideas, then move to asics once the problem is mature enough.
"Why did AMD fall more than NVIDIA?"😆
from a $5 bil contract between two companies ... only for a third to lose $111 bil. You know. There might just be something wrong with the stock exchange as it currently works.
If Google cannot get enough power to rent out their TPUs they may choose to sell them right - just a possibility. Also, GPU or TPU are both depreceating assets as more advanced versions come out - so Google can hedge how much TPUs they want to hold on their own books.
You missed another point: Nvidia invested $100 billion in OpenAI after hearing that OpenAI was exploring the idea of buying TPUs from Google. This news reached Jensen, and he immediately called Sam Altman.
"Nvidia is not about gaming, for now we are AI-data center focused company", yeah, I got strange feeling like it's another crypto-mining slop... i hope google teach nvidia little bit, nowadays, they do a lot of good stuff amo
