I am actually really happy you got an asteroid named after you. Congratulations and here is to 1.5m subscribers coming soon.
I still have memories of Hale-Bopp. I stared at it for hours and burned it into my brain. Glorious comet.
I remember Hale-Bopp vividly. I drove from San Francisco to Colorado in one who and the comet visibly followed us the entire time. When I finally made it to Denver, I refilled at the local Conoco. Gas was $0.99/gallon.
me to the comet: go directly, go directly, GO DIRECTLY
That's a disappointingly far perihelion. Imagine if it had the perihelion of Comet Hale-Bopp instead, it would be the Comet of the Millenium.
The G star HD 7977 is estimated to have passed within half a light year (30,000 AU) approximately 2.76 million years ago.
Having a celestial body named after you, Anton, is wonderful. If you make a t-shirt about it, I'll definitely buy.
"2.8 million years ago, something changed it's orbit rather dramatically..." First of many to come...
Wonderful as always Anton. Thank you. 😺
What a cool big comet! Its a mini moon!
