Description

A lot of people are trying to predict the future of work right now—what AI will replace, what jobs are safe, what paths still make sense. Meanwhile, Matt Ebert is over here fixing wrecked cars and building a $3 billion business doing it. I sat down with Matt, the founder of Crash Champions, and his story doesn’t start with a big idea or a business plan. It starts with a teenager who wrecked his car and couldn’t afford to lose it. So, he figured out how to fix it. That one decision turned into a trade. That trade turned into a career. And that career turned into a $3 billion company with 650 locations and thousands of employees. Along the way, he made just about every mistake you can make—bad ideas, risky bets, and more than a few moments where things could’ve gone sideways in a hurry. But he kept going. We talk about that journey but also about something bigger—why so many good jobs are overlooked, what “AI-proof” work actually looks like, and why the ability to stick with something might matter more than being good at it in the beginning. Matt may not be a “polished” storyteller, and he’s the first to admit he didn’t have any special talent early on. What he did have was a willingness to work, learn, and keep showing up. And in a world that’s getting more complicated by the minute, there’s something refreshingly simple about that. We need to be using our laborers that are ready to retire as teachers!! They have the experience, but physically can’t do a job, for whatever reason.

You need to put a regular, haven’t made it yet, small contractor on your podcast. We also have a lot to say, but don’t have those six figures yet…I’ll volunteer to be that guy! You won’t regret it!

If insurance companies continue to total out every single minor accident they see there won’t be many repair shop shops left

AMC; created the Pacer; looked like a living room window with a couch attached with a roof and walls. We had a light blue one which fell apart after a couple of years or so. My brother said only company that paints its lemons blue and calls them Pacers.

Dealers rip off their techs so bad I can't imagine where the 6 figure jobs are for it.

Matt!😂 You’re endearing! I love how unapologetically you’re just you; so real.❤

I think one word sums it up... America. Great interview, Matt is the type of owner you want to work for.

My son is 22 and is a service advisor at caliber collision. He is also pretty much the manager. He comes home from work every day absolutely stressed out. I work maintenance in a stamping shop making body parts for BMW. I have zero stress 😆

That Matt Ebert, is a pure genius. He knows he has a vision but he's smart enough to find others who have that unique ability to help with his vision. All that, rolled into a guy who is seemingly so shy that he puts everyone at ease. Congratulations sir. I hope you and all of your employees enjoy success for many years to come.❤
