As someone who has spent years in the trenches of legal practice, I find the developments in this 60 Minutes expose both troubling and deeply consequential. The recent executive actions taken against established law firms - Perkins Coie, WilmerHale, among others - signal an alarming shift in how legal dissent is treated at the highest levels of power. Stripping firms of federal contracts and barring access to government facilities purely based on past representations isn’t just retaliatory - it chips away at the very foundation of the rule of law. Legal representation should never be punished by executive fiat. Thankfully, the judiciary has begun pushing back, with a federal court rightly striking down the order against Perkins Coie as unconstitutional. This is a story that all legal professionals - and every citizen who values due process - should pay close attention to.
