The Ai crash is going to make 2008 look like a walk in the park

Working in finance and having to see this nonsense happen in real time has been frustrating in a way I can't put into words. This is one of those "if it looks too good to be true, it usually is" situations.

"I hope my index funds aren't automatically doing that" oh boy...

At this rate, it's only a matter of time till fast food chains like McDonald's start calling themselves an AI company.

I wouldn‘t focus so much on the addressable market argument: Cooking up a dumb number on TAM has been a staple of every pitch meeting I have ever participated in: “You see, we sell air in bags. This means our addressable market is EVERY AEROBIC ORGANISM AND CHEMICAL REACTION!” The actual problem is that AI data centers are terrible assets to own and operate: Legal risk, bad debt, operating costs, capital depreciation, renting short versus owning long… All that stuff. It’s basically like running a crypto mining rig inside a wework.

I'm so tired of everything being scams and the worst people alive getting everything they want.
