Maureen says that if all the parties enter in a surrogacy situation willingly and accept the heart break, then it is okay. But the baby cannot enter into the surrogacy contract willingly. And the baby is the one most deeply affected.
I am a retired ER physician, with a PhD in Biogenetics, was a strong supporter of IVF initially, but that is no longer my view. It started as an ‘honorable’ effort to help a couple that had difficulty conceiving, however I NEVER supported the surrogacy avenue. I was young and naive, and it never crossed my mind that greed would hijack IVF, turning it into the level of a car salesman. As an ER doc I never thought about it much, but that changed when my little brother, an OB/GYN, announced that he and his wife were having a little girl via IVF! I was like..What? His wife had not had any trouble getting pregnant with their boys, but SHE wanted a little girl, so he agreed. That was my first “ah ha” moment of IVF not being “medical,” but commercial! I do NOT support surrogacy for homosexual couples, period!!
As an adoptee who found her biological parents, I came to the conclusion that my parents who raised me were my parents. They are the ones who put in the effort and time to raise me.
The more I learn about ivf, surrogacy, sperm and egg donation the more I’m opposed to it.
Nobody is entitled to a child. We need to put the child’s needs about our wants.
Nobody takes into account the baby. He's not an object a child is not a right. It's a gift
I have worked in hospitals and clinics for decades, and the amount of medical errors that occur and go unreported would blow your freaking mind
Imagine being the other parents and there wasn’t another baby? That would be so much more devastating!!
The baby has been LISTENING to its mother’s VOICE and her HEARTBEAT.
