Don’t forget about the B48 I4 which is also a very reliable engine. Scotty needs to wake up and need to realize it isn’t 2010 with the infamous the N54 and N57 diesel engine. Toyota isn’t what it used to be and BMW has gotten better. Also kinda of sad that the Z4 and Supra was discontinued due to poor sales.

I just picked up a 18 540i higher mileage with a documented history. Best car purchase in the last decade I've made. Perfect balance of a family car that can beat 85% of cars on the road.

Don't forget, the X3, X5, and X7 are assembled in SC. Support US manufacturing. 👍

Hi Mark, I'm writing to you from France (please excuse my English!). I absolutely love your videos and I've learned so much from your content, so a huge thank you to you! In several of your videos, you mention your bad experiences with the N54. It’s true that it is generally considered less reliable than the B58, even though the B58 is still relatively recent and we'll need more time to judge its long-term durability. On my end, I own a May 2013 BMW Z4 35is E89 (340 hp) equipped with the N54B30A — the exact same block as the 1M. My dad owns a Z4 M40i G29 and an M440i, which allows me to know both of these engines pretty well. Honestly, I prefer the N54. It has a much more "old school" character, especially when paired with the DKG (DCT) gearbox. It feels rowdier, rawer, with that old-school mechanical feedback. Plus, the absence of a GPF/OPF (particulate filter) is a total game-changer for the exhaust note! Sure, it requires more maintenance and attention than a B58, but its weak points are perfectly known by now. The N54 bottom end is an absolute rock. Once you address and bulletproof the failure-prone components, I think this engine is outstanding in terms of driving dynamics. To me, it delivers way more emotion than the B58. What are your thoughts on this, if we put the reliability aspect aside?

nearly purchased a Z4 M40i with 2K miles on it...literally had appt to come in and purchase the next morning, late that night had a small hesitation so we decided to wait...part of me regrets not going ahead, also drove an M340i, but as life would have it, it ended up being the right decision, daughter needed car, etc. etc. drove that Z4 four times and it is a great car, the Z4s seem to be really well built, now I'm hoping to pick up a good used one in the future, which may be a better way of getting into one anyway.

Hi Mark, I have been watching your videos for the past few weeks and love how thorough your reviews are. I am in the market for a brand-new X5 LCI, but in Turkey, the only available variant is the xDrive40d mild hybrid. I would love to know if you would choose this or a non-hybrid Porsche Cayenne S V8. Keep up the great work helping us make smart car purchases, love from Turkey.♥️
