I'm building a game engine from scratch using as few libraries I can get away with(currently only have math, glfw, and png loader) and I can confirm it is so fulfilling to actually build something rather than just get it generated.

I’m a government worker at work right now and I greatly care about the small corner that I manage and the many people affected.

Complacency leads to apathy which manifests as despair. When we detach ourselves from the goings-on of our culture and society, we cede control to those in power; and in that way we become helpless to improve our situation. It will be, as it has been before, up to us to do the work.

@9:47 On gov't people who don't seem to care, there may be a huge difference between gov't workers who have to deal with the public -- basically customer service reps -- and gov't workers who deal directly with problems.

"...rise of content that's designed to be consumed while doing something else" In the beginning people listened to radio with full attention, whole families gathered in front of the device in their home to listen to whatever was on. Eventually the novelty wore off, people listened while they were doing something else and then finally it became mostly background noise. The podcasts have just taken that exact same path in less time, because we were already at that level with radio and tv, podcasts are just a different, non-linear way to listen to the radio.

“information overload” has been a concept for awhile. It is finally here. I hear it all the time from people
