Even though I’m not a millionaire, I enjoy listening to your advice and perspective.🌎
I just moved one million to Switzerland and it was very easy. I flew to Zurich and went to the private client office right in the airport. Took 45 minutes for signatures. Bank fees are about 400 dollars a year. Not too bad. Online functionality is great and I have a representative I can reach during working hours and a 24 hour a day English hotline. Actually much better than the banks in the USA. The downside is that there isn’t the same type of insurance on deposits there.
FATCA requires that all global banks report American assets to the IRS. Those are some very ignorant rich people.
A lot of Swiss banks do not even accept US passport holders as client!! These banks just dont want the hassle of US regulators and IRS.
I'm surprised non-Swiss resident US Citizens can still open bank accounts in Switzerland. My company has expat employees (engineers) working in Zurich and they've all had a miserable time opening simple checking accounts - just to pay the bills and get local debit/credit cards, real low dollar stuff. Nonresident US citizens have cost Swiss banks Billons in fines from the US.

Wife and I do some banking in Singapore with DBS. Simply cannot complain about the service.
Holding CHF in cash is also not a great idea because, unlike dollars, every time a new series is issued, the old series is no longer legal tender and can only be exchanged in Geneva or Zurich.
