The "gold is largely formed by neutron star collisions" is my FAVORITE fun fact because it's so tangible to look at gold jewelry and think "most of this object was probably formed by a neutron star collision a few billion years ago". It's so insane to wrap your head around that real life is as about as strange as mythology. Thor's hammer being made out of the heart of a dying star? So it was made out of _iron_, amazing (formation of iron in the core basically immediately kills stars).
Always loved the idea of the atoms in our bodies coming from far out in space from cataclysmic collisions.
Thanks Anton have a great weekend everyone!!
Many thanks Anton --for helping me to see something more elevating than wars and politics on our tiny planet
hi wonderful Anton, this is person
Wonderful as always Anton. Thank you.
I feel like it would be amazing to see one of these mergers from a much closer vantage, but it's probably safest to watch it from my chair right here on the cozy surface of our planet 😅
Good job. Thank you Anton
Sitting back and watching the latest...
It is truly mind boggling that humanity cannot only understand these collisions but can also use that knowledge to make extreme states of matter and put them to use.
