Sora 2 Hype Cycle: Model Evolution vs. App Novelty
Determine if Sora 2 represents a genuine shift in content creation or just another fleeting viral sensation, focusing on model capability versus social adoption.
Short Summary
- The Sora model shows significant realism improvements, capable of generating video with synchronous audio.
- The Sora app's viral success hinged on enabling users to feature themselves and celebrities, unlike Meta's Vibes predecessor.
- Creator novelty wore off quickly for daily use, suggesting ongoing utility will be task-specific rather than continuous scrolling.
This breakdown examines the industry reaction to Sora 2, comparing the advanced generative model against the temporary hype of its social application, offering insight into long-term AI content viability.

Berman giving you a foot rub had me chuckling.
The stats for YouTube and social media is that 90% of people are consumers only (no engagement), 9% will comment and/or engage with content, and only 1% are actually creators. It will probably go up to maybe 3% of people on those platforms will be creators. Mostly people just want to watch, not create.
Now I understand why it isn't available in my region.
Nailed it on it being a fun new toy at first, but then a little boring after the novelty wears off. Shiny new toys are awesome...until they no longer shine. Still, amazing to see how fast things are moving.

I was waiting for you to talk about this!
I think that we can ALL see by now that AI is horrific. A decaying 'agent' on humanity.
It's sad to see it gone, nobody else has a character video reference feature yet. Unfortunately it wasn't the best for serious work use, but as a form of entertainment it was excellent.
