Description

Swatting calls. Doxxing. A gag order. National protests outside the courthouse. If any case screamed "move this trial somewhere else," it was Karmelo Anthony's. It never left the county where it happened. Resident Legal Diva breaks down change-of-venue law in criminal cases — why it's one of the hardest motions to win, why courts prefer fixing a jury pool over relocating a trial, and what this doctrine means right now for two other of the country's most-watched cases: Tyler Robinson's fight over cameras and publicity in the Charlie Kirk case, and Luigi Mangione's trial, where for once it's prosecutors worried about a jury pool biased in the defendant's favor. This is Episode 1 of the Karmelo Anthony legal series — next up: how the jury itself got picked. Nothing is more appreciated than you breaking it down in layman terms, so the legalAF'ers can understand. You ROCK! Keep up the great work.

Thank you, Melba (a.k.a., Resident Legal Diva) for your reporting and legal analysis, especially on topics and issues that should get but don't get sufficient coverage. I'm looking forward to the next episode in this series regarding the Karmelo Anthony case, which highlights concerns we've long had in our country about bias in the justice system.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿. Here in England I heard about two of those cases within hours of the crime being committed. Some of the reporting and opinions of the various news outlets, were for and against the perpetrators of said crimes. I deliberated over these opinions, mixed with actual facts that subsequently emerged, let me form my own assumptions of these crimes. Therefore, no matter how far away you move the court, there will be difficulty in finding an impartial juror. That's how the modern world works, for good or bad.
