Description

The trial was supposed to start on April 27, 2026. Women who suffered life-threatening complications under Tennessee's abortion ban and have been waiting three years to tell their stories in court, were ready. Then the Tennessee AG filed an appeal the night before, and a law the legislature passed specifically to block this case stripped the court of all jurisdiction. Just like that. Resident Legal Diva Melba Pearson sat down with Linda Goldstein, Senior Counsel at the Center for Reproductive Rights and lead attorney on this case, to break down exactly what happened — and what it means. You'll also hear from Allie Phillips. She's one of the plaintiffs. Her story is why this case exists. This is not just a reproductive rights story. This is a legal corruption story. And I'm breaking it down the way only a former prosecutor can. To allow a woman to get an infection first, instead of providing proper medical care, is not following proper medical protocol. They are purposely risking the woman' life for a known negative outcome. This is medical negligence.

What these religious extremist don’t understand is that they are mentally ill. Anyone who wants to control others for whatever reason is a mental and emotional illness. They are playing god. They aren’t god!

I don't think we should make laws about reproductive rights at all. It should be between a woman and her physician. Period

Totally unacceptable. Can’t believe there are States so ignorant that they dismiss the needs of women. This should be illegal. Uneducated folks in Tenn.
