Republican John Thune Goes Woke and DITCHES Columbus Day In Favor of Indigenous People
Critique of Political Capitulation: Columbus Day Versus Indigenous Peoples' Day Narratives
Understand why celebrating Indigenous Peoples' Day represents a willful surrender to anti-American narratives and examine how both Democrats and senior Republicans have abandoned the legacy of Western civilization's founders.
Short Summary
- The speaker forcefully argues that white Europeans, not Native American tribes, are the true founders and "natives" of the United States.
- Democratic leadership statements regarding "stolen land" and specific tribal recognition are labeled as nonsensical political rhetoric failing to name credible civilizational contributions.
- Senate Republican leader John Thune is strongly criticized for mirroring progressive talking points by validating the Indigenous Peoples' Day observance, suggesting a dangerous lack of conservative conviction.
This segment deconstructs the political shift surrounding the Columbus Day observance, contrasting historical fact (as defined by the speaker) with contemporary political messaging used by both parties. This analysis is useful for identifying when political allies validate destructive historical myths.

John Thune is a RINO. Get those kinds of people out, and the country heals.
I am so tired of socialists trying to change history by changing historical names. Oh, leave our historical statues alone too.
Anyone that sells out and forsakes their own culture is morally bankrupt and can't be reasoned with.
"We are all on stolen land." You can apply that to literally any peoples given that tribes migrated to different geographies throughout history. Even Native Americans themselves weren't truly native to the territory they claim to have first resided on.
Chicken Republicans, Worried about their scalps.
The indigenous peoples that Columbus met were cutting the hearts out of their own people…
As a chickasaw... part native American.. my father was raised on a reservation in Oklahoma... he was against the tribal behavior of the Indian people or native American.. whatever term you're comfortable with... He grew up and saw people who could have changed their lives by applying themselves... but wanted to continue to play the victim.. he went to school until the 6th grade.. went to war... came home dealt with racism... Then went to night school while raising a family.. then he went to a trade school and became a plumber...
Well, Columbus doesn't measure up to the Vikings. Leif Eriksson ought to be celebrated instead.
If a tribe banned abortion and transing kids, arrested criminals, deported aliens, etc, you can be sure they wouldn’t be respecting tribal sovereignty.
I thought Thanksgiving was the day that we included the indigenous people and how we sat down and showed peace with our neighbors. Biggest issue, we don’t teach history.
