The year is 2035: Ben Parkes is reviewing the all new Hoka trainer. Stack height is 125 mm.. “So Hoka’s new speed shoe has a reduced stack down to 125mm” …
It's already been run for a 2hr 46min marathon 😅
Best review of the Vomero Premium I've seen so far and fully agree with all of Ben's assessments. Got this yesterday and immediately took it out on a 10-mile run at mixed paces (mostly easy/recovery) that averaged out at 9:14/mile (5:44/km) and I found it to be the perfect shoe for such a run. Yes, it's the heaviest running shoe I've ever tried at 11.0oz (312g) in my US men's size 8 but it didn't feel and ride as heavy during the run and I felt like I could easily go another 5 miles if my legs weren't so shot after a few days of long tempo/threshold runs. It's a very roomy shoe and I can probably go down half a size but then it may feel a little too snug for what is supposed to be a comfort shoe - better to go with thicker socks and enjoy the plushness. I had been wanting that "ultimate" recovery shoe as I just never got on with the More v4/5, which is soft and protective but too sluggish and boring. Other max stack shoes like the MagMax, Skyward X, Vomero Plus, and Wave Sky 9 are all excellent shoes but a little too peppy for me to go really, really slow. The Vomero Premium has the bounce to make it fun and keep me going but it isn't propulsive or anything like that. It's what I'd say is the perfect recovery shoe - keep it slow while having a little more fun than the typical plodding that most shoes force me to do for such a purpose. Nike says that this shoe is supposed to emulate the feel and ride of running on anti-gravity treadmills and I think I can now imagine what that's like - keep the HR down, absorb all the ground impact, and bounce along to make recovery a more fun experience than a drudgery to get over with. It's expensive, for sure, but I think the experience makes up for it. It's quite stable for its stack height although turning corners definitely didn't feel confidence-inspiring. It felt good for walking although a bit odd (and cool!) being more than 2 inches taller. Haha. I plan to take this, along with the Megablast, on a 3-week business trip to Asia soon and it'll serve me fine for waiting in line at the airports and for short morning runs. I'll use the Megablast for long-and-fast park runs on the days off and for running on treadmills at the hotel gyms - a perfect travel combo. What a time to be a runner!
I did 14km in them yesterday and I didn’t feel the weight. Super bouncy, fun to run in and will now be my long run/easy run shoe.
I think Boris Karloff wore a pair in a famous 1931 movie. One point for the Super Blasts is that they have been reported as extremely durable, which helps take some of the sting out of the price. I don't know how the weight and air pockets on the Vomero will hold up over lots of miles.
What a great shoe. Super cushioning does what it set out to do! Super review Ben 🎉😎 Nike where's the innovation (they said), give us something new (they said). And here we are! 😎

Ben Parkes the OG. i've been following since you were about 36 as you said, around 2018 now i'm 36 lol. I remember when you had your 10k subscribers and entered a 10k run to celebrate.
Just bought them, love these shoes. I am an older runner with hip and knee issues.
Love this Channel. I love how easy these are to run on. Perfect for Zone 2 and recovery runs. Even easy intervals. Feels like you are running on a treadmill while out there on hard pavement. Hope everyone’s having a good time!
