Description

Is the 2027 Chevy Bolt the affordable electric car we’ve been waiting for? We review its upgraded range, battery, and tech to see if you should buy America's cheapest EV! Run a VIN check or license plate search to uncover maintenance history, open recalls, and title statuses before you buy at http://bumper.com/edmunds Chevrolet Bolt Edmunds Review – https://www.edmunds.com/chevrolet/bolt/?utm_campaign=video_description&utm_source=youtube More Edmunds Fully Tested Videos – https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLsSQoIGhBLpSW5q7K9sKS8j9VnXc3VWVw Appraisal Tool - https://www.edmunds.com/appraisal/?utm_campaign=video_description&utm_source=youtube Car Listings – https://www.edmunds.com/new-cars-for-sale/?utm_campaign=video_description&utm_source=youtube Ratings and Reviews – https://www.edmunds.com/car-reviews/?utm_campaign=video_description&utm_source=youtube 00:00 Intro 00:38 Pricing 01:31 Edmunds EV Range & Charging Tests 03:02 The Numbers 04:31 Driving Impressions 08:27 Exterior & Styling 09:34 Interior & Tech 14:05 Edmunds' Take The Chevrolet Bolt is back, and we're thrilled to see a truly affordable electric car return to the market. Starting just under $29,000, this new Chevy Bolt is heavily based on the architecture of the previous Chevy Bolt EUV, meaning it brings back familiar styling and space but packs some major under-the-skin upgrades. In our Edmunds EV Range Test, the 2027 Chevy Bolt absolutely crushed expectations. With an official estimate of 262 miles, it managed to cover an impressive 290 miles on a single charge. One of the most significant changes in this Chevy Bolt EV revival is its updated battery chemistry. The shift to a lithium-iron-phosphate pack means you can routinely charge it to 100% without the standard battery degradation worries. Plus, charging speeds are roughly three times faster than the old model, and it now comes equipped with a Tesla-style NACS port to make road trips more viable. When it comes to power, the 2027 Chevrolet Bolt maintains respectable performance, hitting 0-60 mph in 7.1 seconds during our track testing. Inside, the new Chevy Bolt offers a surprisingly roomy back seat and incredibly smart storage solutions, though the cabin materials reflect its budget-friendly price point and the seats are undeniably firm. Tech lovers will appreciate the standard 11.3-inch screen with Google Built-In, but be aware that Apple CarPlay and Android Auto have unfortunately been dropped. Cargo space is also a bit tight at just 16.2 cubic feet behind the rear seats. Our full review verdict? Despite a few compromises like interior noise and stiff seats, getting this much range and tech for less than $30,000 makes the Bolt a phenomenal value. I just can’t get over the concept of spending money to update a vehicle only to have it go away after a year. But then again, I’m not a GM executive.

Being here from Europe still just baffles me that in the US you have choice between Chevrolet Bolt and Nissan Leaf as affordable EVs. As we here are having such a choice from Renault 5, VW id Polo, Cupra Raval, to Chinese automakers,... I actually hope that US costumers get more choices soon

I’m just under 3000 miles on my 27 Bolt and I’m loving the experience so far. The lack of Apple CarPlay is my biggest complaint.

No CarPlay or Android Auto is an immediate no for me. Such a customer hostile decision to remove that feature that was in all the previous models of Bolt

We are really happy to see the Bolt return and hope it sticks around more for the year that Chevrolet has committed too. Are there any recent vehicles that have been discontinued that you'd like to see come back? Let us know in the comments below!

Customers: "This is a nice EV, we like it" GM: "OK we will sell it for ONE year"...

The Bolt is OK, I guess. But in bringing back an EV they discontinued 3 years ago, GM is illustrating how sad it is that they're totally reliant on tariffs to protect them from current competition.

I love my 2023 Bolt EUV and the lack of CarPlay in the newer iteration is a deal killer for me.
