A guy at Trader Joe’s voluntarily explained their Org Chart to me: two brothers inherited Aldi in Germany. They disagree fundamentally, on the sales of cigarettes, so they split the company into 2: Aldi Nord and Aldi Sud—Aldi Sud being the one that sells cigarettes (if I recall correctly). When Aldi came to the US, the brothers decided that having 2 versions of Aldi here would be too confusing, so the cigarette guy took Trader Joe’s, and the non-cigarette guy took Aldi America. Interesting, no?🤗🤗🤗
“It’s not inflation it’s corporate greed” is the TRUTH & felt so good to hear said. Thank you, Gwenydd.
Woah wait I need to defend Aldi, im sure they arent nice everywhere but the new stores popping up are actually really nice!! Huge, well stocked, well lit but not completely overstimulating. Aldi also has the very specific draw of constantly changing their special product category to include all sorts of interesting things that you cant necessarily find everywhere. Also aldi has some of the best really cheap wines, youre going to have a hard time finding a $3-4 bottle that tastes better than aldi wine
My misconception about trader joe's was that it was hipster and therefor more expensive, but after going in and looking at the prices, it's extremely competitive on the price side. Even the weird snack foods that are exclusive are reasonably priced.
Gwynedd nailed it, baking is chemistry, needs specific measurements. Cooking is way more loosey-goosey.
As an Aldi cashier, I will not give up my seat 😂 it’s the best ❤
😂 The only times I'm paying $3.99 for a pound of beef at my Piggly Wiggly is when it's got that yellow markdown sticker on it
These places exist to only cater to those with excessive amounts of money and others with enough curiosity to spend $15 on a bottle of water to see what it tastes like. 😅
I have always said that cooking is about feeling, experience, taste, tradition, and nuance. Baking is about science and chemistry with a little magic mixed in.
"No Seeds!" Nicole, talking about corn, a food that is approximately 99.9% seeds.
