Four International True Crime Investigations: Fort Injustice, Smith Disappearance, Ael Murder, and Hartin Shooting Defense.

Revisit four high-stakes international death investigations—ranging from alleged wrongful conviction and a high-sea disappearance to a brutal overseas murder and a disputed fatal shooting—and confront the conflicting evidence presented.

Short Summary

  • Enrico Fort’s 20-year conviction lacks forensic linkage, focusing instead on circumstantial evidence like sand grains, while an alternate suspect vanished.
  • The George Smith IV cruise death mystery remains unsolved, plagued by conflicting witness accounts, suspicious videotape evidence, and official case closure.
  • Carolyn Ael’s murder in Seoul involved friends discovering the body, leading to a primary suspect who fled the country but who later failed polygraphs.
  • Jasmine Hartin claims self-defense in the shooting death of a police officer in Belize, but her shifting narrative struggles against expert firearm testimony.

This document structures key facts, conflicting expert opinions, and potential next steps from various "48 Hours" segments covering cases across Spain, the Caribbean, South Korea, and the US. Jurors who find someone guilty while knowing that they are innocent should be sent to prison themselves.

It makes me sick when a juror convicts someone but after the fact says I believe he was innocent

The Enrico 40 case has to be one of the saddest cases I’ve ever watched, such an injustice to this man. I hope he gets released soon 🙏🏾

What a disgusting lawyer "the girl was taking advantage of the boys" when she was crying in the video tape! How did these guys and their abject families get away with all they did on board?! It's so revolting.
