It is absolutely incredible that even after the toddler turned blue and was rushed to hospital (and seems to have stayed for a few days), MIL **still** believes that the toddler's allergies are just "odd ideas about daughter's health" that her son and DIL have
Love that the husband in the first story didn't even try to defend his mom or play the middle man to keep both his wife and mom happy or whatever. I cent believe the MIL wasn't charged with attempted murder???
It's so refreshing hearing the no nonsense approach to the MIL. Immediately calls the authorities and lawyers
Might be VERY callous, but when the Mother-in-Law threatened to unalive herself after what she did to her granddaughter, all I could think was, "Promise?"
Story 2: Not only was it the right decision, but you should contact either your state or the federal labor board to report them
MIL: I’m just trying to show you there’s nothing wrong with your daughter. Me: WELL YOU FAILED MISERABLY!!!
R/slash’s preschool allergy story: At the school I worked at there was a kid who had a severe egg and fish allergy, the school sent out an email saying saying to try and limit bringing food that contained eggs and fish into the classroom. one parent walked in the very next day and said with a smile “I know eggs aren’t allowed but he REALLY wanted an egg and salmon sandwich this morning and I couldn’t say no.” This kid brought eggs in almost everyday after that (when before they didn’t bring it in that much) and the teachers would just sit at different tables on the opposite side of the room, but the kid kept trying to get near the kid with the allergy, one day the kid was caught dropping his scrambled eggs on the blanket and sleeping mat of the kid with the egg allergy. His mom ended up taking him out of the school when she realized he was probably going to get kicked out soon (there were a lot of other issues with this kid/family). I’m completely convinced that the crazy parents didn’t believe in allergies and encouraged their kid to expose the poor girl to her allergen. People are crazy sometimes and it’s even worse when they become parents
Story 1: I wonder if she knew about allergy tests. You take a toothpick, put just a TINY amount of the allergen on it, then poke the skin. If a bump forms, you're allergic. I've never had one myself, I think it's done by doctors, but It's a lot safer than trying to straight up feed a laced cookie But if she believes allergies aren't real, then too bad, now she can't see her granddaughter anymore
Sad to say, but I am 100% convinced that they would have had to go no contact with grandma sooner or later. She has a really unhealthy obsession with her granddaugther and it was a matter of time before she became overbearing and other boundaries were trampled.
Cheater story: WTF!!! "It's just his way of greaving"?!? Aww yes, the famed CHEATING step of grief. Does it come before or after acceptance? Does it go "Denial, Cheating, Acceptance" all of a sudden?!?
