Retiring comfortably in the US these days is almost impossible. I'm planning to retire at 59 in another country outside the US that is free, safe and very cheap with a high quality of life and good healthcare. Here in the US more people might face a tough time in retirement. Low-paying jobs, inflation, and high rents make it hard to save. Now, middle-class Americans find it tough to own a home too, leaving them without a place to retire.
thank you random guy on youtube
I’m in Ohio and the housing market here over the last 7-8 years is unlike anything I’ve ever seen. Homes that were bought for $130K in 2015 are now being sold for $590k. I’m talking about tiny, disgusting, poorly built 950 square foot shit boxes in quiet mediocre neighbourhoods. Then you’ve got Better, average sized homes in nicer neighbourhoods that were $300K+ 10 years ago selling for $750k+ now. Wild times.
Also, be sure you can afford the maintenance of a house. From mowing the lawn to fixing minor issues like plumbing leaks and the potential need to replace a roof or driveway.
Just offer $50k under asking. Look for properties that’s been 4+ mos w no other offers. Ask for credit and to pay your closing costs. If they don’t accept or counter, move on. Plenty of inventory out there.
No supply in my area. In a 30 mile diameter, there's like 3 houses for 300k and they all suck. 5 years ago 300k could've gotten a really nice place
About 20 years ago before 2008 a house was investment for the most of the middle and lower class. It’s sad that’s it’s reverberating back to pre 1920 when a home was a liability and they are often abandoned.

I’m convinced this is one of the only real people giving people actual information on YouTube. So wild when he talks about his wife buying furniture 😂 such a real dude. Thank you for the video!
