Description

Aviation vs Car, Diesel Engine, Motorcycle, and Marine. Brands: Mobil 1, Phillips 66, Motorcraft, Quicksilver and Motul. I paid an independent oil testing lab to analyze all of the motor oils, and I performed my own testing for lubricity, resistance to thermal break down, and oil flow characteristics. I bought all of the motor oils, paid for the oil analysis, and all of the supplies used in this review. I always pay for everything out of my own pocket to ensure an unbiased review. Heya, great video and it was of especial interest to my wife and she was the lead chemist in the evening for 28 years at BASF and made a lot of this oil. She was very interested to see you boiling your oil as she says they used to put it into a platinum (and yes, they had to lock it up in the evenings) crucible and bake it for an hour at 600° in a muffler oven. She says that your test with the coffee pots and the heater plate actually seem to be very accurate. Good job, as the scientist, she really enjoys your videos at a level that I cannot match. You’re very creative.

I love that you tested this. I followed your earlier oil testing like they were playoff games.

One day, there will be a store called Project Farm and each department will be the top choice for sale with empty shelves because you sold out everything. Great work, Todd.

*As a 20 year Locomotive Machinist, (retired) I spent a lot of time going over motor oil lab test results. We actually had our own Oil Testing Lab. Every single Locomotive that came into the shop or across the Service Pit, for service and/or repairs was required to have to its oil tested...The test results always gave you the most information & told you more than any other test what's actually going on inside the engine. The test results are stored on computer hard drive and the Machinist could look up the history of any given engine, going back to the engine's original installation date....Great diagnostic & education reference. A good example, you see an oil test with elevated copper & lead particles, that told you that you had a bad bearing somewhere. If you saw elevated chrome and/or iron levels, that meant you had a bad set of rings or scored cylinder walls. Excessive carbon in the oil meant you had a crack in the water galley beneath the exhaust manifold...(the block is thin there)..If you saw borate (railroads put borate in the engine coolant water to help identify leaks)..in the oil, it meant you had an internal water leak in the engine..ect.,ect.,ect...*
