I agree with except the Subaru. My father has his for 18 years. The legacy never had a problem
I like my 2023 V6 Camry. 8 speed “real” transmission, no turbo or hybrid. Doesn’t even shut off at a red light! 1600 RPM at 70. 36 MPG highway miles. That drivetrain will last a very long time.
I have a 2014 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport(RVR). On day 1 it was rattling and the uninspiring performance was noticeable. However, 150,000 miles later, I have never been stranded on the side of the road and dumped almost no money into it. Unlike my wife's Mercedes and BMW.
Looking at a 7 year old subaru... come on dude. I wouldn't buy one of those either. But, I would buy a newer one! Very good cars overall... have owned nearly all the models including the brz the past 20 years (except wrx).
my 2006 Forester which I bought brand new is loaded and has a manual. It's still going strong.
Wife and I have been buying and driving Foresters and Outbacks since 2004 model. Very reliable and very crash safe. Example: My 2017 Outback Limited 4 cylinder has zero repairs in 86,000 miles. Similar for Forester, one small repair in 77,000 miles. We will replace them with new Subarus.
Btw a Subaru with a manual gear box could last you a long time
For Lent I'm trying to avoid commenting on YouTube, but I feel it's a greater sin to feed people misinformation. People want to lump Honda in with Toyota in reliability without doing research. Honda USED to be great. I'd avoid newer Hondas as well as the brands mentioned here. They have been having oil dilution issues in their engines and haven't been able to solve it. Also, Subaru has gotten a lot better in recent years as Toyota has stock in them and it shows. They have gotten a lot more reliable in recent years. I agree on the styling though. Outside of the BRZ, Subaru doesn't have cool looking vehicles.
My 2018 Subaru Forester with the 6-speet manual transmission has been an excellent car. It does burn some oil but not a lot. This was the last year that the 6-speed transmission was available in the Forester. It has been serviced at regular intervals and at 120,000 km handles and runs like new. No issues and it does not have the dreaded stop/start feature. It has been a very reliable car and I am just one of the many satisfied owners.
bought a used 2016 forester in 2019 . it had about 25,000 miles on it 2.5L 4 cylinder engine with the CVT transmission , now it has 99,000 miles on it . while not awe inspiring , ok maybe a bit boring . it has not disappointed in reliability . in those almost 75,000 miles 2 sets of front wheel bearings , 2 brake fluid changes ( when brakes need replacement ) 1 differential fluid change and 1 CVT fluid change ..... I can't really complain for spending $24,500
