As a volunteer for the Obama 08 campaign, this is a completely different landscape we are navigating today. When I engaged with voters while canvassing I didn’t have to fight against social media and influencers.

You know what else isn’t fun- racism, misogyny, destroying the environment, tax cuts for the rich & corporations, demonizing immigrants, demonizing vaccines, a President who makes himself rich while in office, politicians trying to steal elections & when that fails supporting an insurrection, stealing from students who enrolled in fake university, stealing from your own charity, bragging about sexual assault- no fun at all.

So Americans *did* hear him say that what matters to him is racism and hate and they said, “sure, we’ll go for it!”

MAGA is a big tent because people are willing to sacrifice everything from their dignity to economic ruin in order to express their racism. Also, it's obviously a cult of personality.

A Psychopath linked with stupid people is your winning combo apparently.

I think its a bad thing if we all stop caring when our politicians lie to us honestly

I read that article when it came out. I agree to an extent. The huge advantage that MAGA has is it’s built on BS— not disagreeable ideas but actual BS —and nobody in that movement cares.

IMHO: Organize like Minnesota. Build parallel infrastructure from the ground up. Bond over joyful things and sense of purpose/contribution that brings everyone together.
